Character Name: Staff Commander Kaidan Alenko

Appearance: Kaidan’s pretty goodlookin’, in a clean cut sort of way. He’s a soldier, and his build reflects this, although he’s managed to avoid any nasty scarring in the course of his work. Fuck knows what’s going on with his hair, but it’s dark brown/black and appears to be doing a futuristic attempt at Elvis. Jolee Bindo.

Personality:
On the axis of morality, Kaidan’s pretty light-side. He doesn’t kill unless necessary – ‘necessary’ generally being in defense of his life or that of someone he cares for, or to stop someone giant asshole trying to destroy the galaxy. Also geth. Geth are fair game. And Cerberus. For the most part, he’s a level-headed sort of guy who likes to think things through before he does them – over thinks, typically. He’s loosened up a little due to influence from Commander Shepard, but experiences in his youth have resulted in him being fairly controlled, with respect to both his abilities and his emotions. He’s seen the dangers that acting without thinking, lashing out instead of being calm and rational about a situation can bring, and tends to carry that lesson around with him.

He doesn’t lack for humour, though – he’s not a laugh a minute kind of bloke, but he does have a dry sort of wit and isn’t afraid to make self-deprecating comments when something points out inconsistencies about his behaviour. While in general he manages to be calm and collected, when he’s around someone that he cares about a lot, he loses some of that. Okay, maybe a lot of that. He kind of derpifies when he’s in a potentially awkward emotional situation, and while he’s learnt his lesson about not physically lashing out, if someone hurts his man feelings, he can lose some of that carefully crafted control and lash out verbally. Kaidan is an honest man, not one for subterfuge or lying, even when it might better serve him to keep quiet about certain things. If he sees an injustice, he won’t hesitate to speak out and take action against it, and that includes against superiors. He does have a tendency to give way to the opinions of those he respects, but the kind of people who earn his respect are invariably honest, hardworking people in the same general area of morality as him. He’s seen a few people make some bad decisions, and that includes himself; he’s not afraid to caution someone against heading down that path if he thinks they might have cause to. In a world where each species tends to view every other one with suspicion, if not outright malice, Kaidan has taken a potentially surprising lesson from his mistreatment at the hands of a turian – rather than hating all aliens as a result of this experience, he determined that every species has its assholes and angels, just like humans. He judges people by their actions, and tries to keep an eye on the bigger picture – although admittedly, sometimes his feelings can get in the way of that.

Special Abilities: Kaidan is a biotic, which basically means ‘yey Force Powers!’ but with science and in his case, debilitating migraines. But yeah, he can throw shit around with his mind (more details here), at the expense of getting hideous headaches due to his older implants.

[Ladies and gentlefolk, there is a shirtless military man on your screen right now. He’s not looking too pleased about the situation, but he doesn’t appear to be having an issue with the tech]

This is Staff Commander Kaidan Alenko of the Systems Alliance speaking, does anybody read me? I appear to have been kidnapped to an unknown world – or at least, an unknown part of the world I was on before – but by the looks of things, my captors forgot to read the handbook. They’re nowhere to be seen, no demands have been made, and I seem to have full access to this apartment complex and the surrounding city. There are mechs in the hallway, but none of them have tried to shoot me. Well, yet.

If anyone’s picking up on this, I’d appreciate some information about what the hell is going on.

Third Person:
Kaidan could think of worse situations that he’d been in, sure, but he wasn’t sure he could come up with anything stranger. Kidnapped to another world – another universe by a guy in a mask who apparently had control over life and death. And there was something that didn’t sit well with Kaidan, the idea of people playing god.

Which probably made him a bit of a hypocrite, really. Seeing as people playing god had brought something very precious to him back to life, although he’d gone and screwed that one up. That was probably the least surprising thing about this situation, really. Turning on the datapad, asking what the hell was going on, and finding Commander Shepard’s face staring back at him. If anyone was suited to being dragged through time and space to defeat a seemingly undefeatable evil, it was that woman.

Kaidan sighed, turning away from the window he’d been staring out of. There were things he needed to attend to, and musing over past mistakes in front of an alien city wasn’t one of them. He’d managed to acquire clothes from a mech in the hallway, but there he still needed a weapon, and preferably a tour guide. He had his biotics, obviously, but there something comforting about have a gun in hand; beyond that, he was getting the impression that keeping the fact that he could move things with his mind under wraps would be a good idea.

So. Gun, tour guide, and if he could manage it, maybe some food. And then maybe he could summon up the courage to go and face Shepard.
